The Role:

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for creating and developing strong working relationships with people both inside and outside of Coconut Bliss to support effective sourcing of ingredients and packaging that meet all requirements; negotiate favorable contracts; ensure timely purchase orders and on-time deliveries; tracks ingredient and packaging shrinkage based on raw material and finished goods inventory. In addition, this role performs related analysis, data tracking and research to facilitate meeting company objectives and goals.

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree preferably in Economics, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing and/or Applied Science, or two additional years of directly relevant experience, ideally sourcing ingredients, is required
  • Experience – Three years minimum experience in a similar role is required, five+ years preferred
    • Required:
      • Experience managing supplier relationships and contracts
      • Experience working in inventory management systems or ERPs
      • Intermediate or higher proficiency in Excel
      • Beginner proficiency with QuickBooks or relevant equivalent
    • Preferred:
      • Experience sourcing food ingredients and packaging, has established network
      • Knowledge of organic, fair trade and other certifications, and sustainable packaging options
    • Ideal candidates will be skilled in the following areas: teamwork, organizational skills, communication, adaptability, logic & problem-solving, critical thinking/analyzing, kaizen (continuous improvement) and leadership.
    • Alignment – Passionate about natural, organic and local foods; willing (or excited!) to actively contribute to furthering the mission and vision of Bliss Unlimited
    • Schedule is generally 40 hours per week during regular business hours
    • Travel: Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; may travel up to 5 times a year, by auto and/or plane, to visit suppliers
    • Physical: The majority of the Supply Chain Manager duties are performed sitting or standing at a desk, using a computer and phone, and other office equipment in a typical office environment or at the employee’s home office
      • When visiting suppliers, manufacturers and copackers, environment is often loud with cold temperatures and has strict requirements regarding clothing, shoes, jewelry and personal protective equipment; must be able to safely comply with all company and regulatory rules and guidelines while in these environments

What you’ll do:

  • Maintains/creates positive working relationships with long term/new suppliers
  • Sources and secures ingredients and packaging that meet all requirements
  • Negotiates contracts with new and existing suppliers and manages RFP processes
  • Works with QA Manager to onboard new suppliers
  • Manages ingredient, packaging and component purchase orders, including monitoring raw materials inventory and production, placing orders, tracking receipt, tracking production and shipment, tracking orders against contracted quantities, all in a timely manner and in justified volumes
  • Collaborates with the Production Planner and Copack facilities on ingredient and packaging forecasts, orders and shipping schedules
  • Maintains timely flow of communication with suppliers and logistics teams, both internal and external
  • Performs cost analysis for contracting and meeting internal goals
  • Performs market research and stays informed on trends related to supply chain and sustainable packaging
  • Tracks supply chain sustainability metrics, working with suppliers to collect greenhouse gas emissions data, waste data, water usage data, and toxic waste data in the supply chain
